    Pride

The first time I started going to S>O>B>E>R, I hadn't been to a church, sitting in the middle almost in the front behind this tall man named Tom I watched Pastor Larry go back and forth up and down the isles and I couldn't understand what it had to do with Today and the way I wanted to live. Well as time went on I listened and watched after a while all I thought was how can I do any of this.  Well my friends life has caught up to me hard, I have been sober a long time and helped alot of people that asked for it.  Now I am asking, Not for money not for friends not for prayer but for some explanation as to why with all the resources available to me and me utilizing them why am I still be persecuted for what has happend in the past. Makes me just want to go to the desert and take a loooooong walk because out there I don't have to deal with others just what comes into my path not because someone is going out of there way to make mine difficult. This doesn't make any sense now that I have written it but there it is.

    Re: Pride

I know how hard it is to overcome our past. Even when we change people don't see it. Sometimes we try to make up for our

past by doing as much good  as we can. We try to make up for the bad things we have done put it never seems to be enough.

All we have is the Blood of Jesus to fall back on It is our fath in him that opens the Gates to heven and to the harts of outhers.

As we seek our owen personal relationship with Him people will see us in a new light. The light of Christ.

Let me incourge you to seek this relationship and if there is any thing I can do to help just call     404-6237

    Re: Pride

The past is the past, you cannot change that.  However you can be a new person in Christ.  Please take the time right now and read Romans chapter 5.  The past is gone.....Truly it's only real purpose is to build who you are today, your character, your endurance.  We can rejoice, too, when we run into problems and trials, for we know that they help us develop endurance.  And endurance develops strength of character, and character strengthens our confident hope of salvation.  And this hope will not lead to disappointment. For we know how dearly God loves us, because he has given us the Holy Spirit to fill our hearts with his love..

    Re: Pride

If you have given your life to Jesus Christ to be the boss of your life and to forgive you of your sins then there is an important fact that you need to understand about what has happened to you.

In 2 Corinthians 5:17 "Therefore, if any one is in Christ he is a new creation; the old has gone, the new has come."  and also

in Romans 6:4  "We were buried with Christ through baptism into dath in order that just as Christ was raised from the dead through the glory of the Father we too may live a new life."

These and lots of other scriptures point out a very important truth.  When you gave your life to Christ that old person you were died.  It was crusified with Jesus and is dead.  And then the Holy Spirit came to indwell and raised you up into a new life.  That is the truth and the reality of the matter.

So the question I want to ask you is this:  Why are you feeling guilty over the sins and actions of a person who is dead and no longer exists.  You are a new creation, that old person is gone and dead.  You can stop nailing yourself to the cross because of your sins because Jesus was already nailed to the cross for you.

By faith believe what Christ has done for you in giving you a new life and stop feeling bad over the actions of a dead man.  God bless  Jay

    Re: Pride

    Jay,

God bless you for enduring the slings and arrows of your past.  I know it is difficult sometimes to walk the walk when the homies no longer got your back.  Even so, always remember that it is in YOUR BELIEFS that you will find salvation.  Who cares what "dem other peoples" think?  Was it not a thief that hung on a cross next to Jesus at the crucifiction?  As his life was slipping away, this thief confessed his OWN BELIEF that Jesus was the Messiah.  The Lamb's blood washed him free of sin & he was promised his place in paradise.  It didn't matter what the MASSES believed about that thief then, and so it is today.

FOR GOD SO LOVED THE WORLD THAT HE GAVE HIS ONLY BEGOTTEN SON, THAT WHOSOEVER BELIEVETH IN HIM SHALL NOT PERISH, BUT HAVE EVERLASTING LIFE.

You, my friend, are also that "whosoever".

Does it really matter what "dem other peoples" think?

Continue walking the walk in loving kindness and you too, will find your place in paradise.

Pray for those that continue to persecute you & perhaps they will find their place in paradise as well.

(Yeah, I know...that's the tricky part.)

    Peace be with you.
